These are some common questions we are asked

If you have a question that you don't see answered here do not hesitate to give us a call.  We are of the mind that no question is a dumb question. We know that all people are not leather experts and this concept of dyeing invokes quite a bit of curiosity. Luckily we really like what we do and really enjoy talking about it, so give us a call!!!

Can I really re-color (re-dye) or even change the color of my leather furniture?

Yes, if someone dyed the leather a color before you bought it, we can use the same technology (techniques, chemicals and dye’s) to refresh or change your leather furniture to a new color or custom finish.

What color can I change it to?

There are a few guidelines but for the most part, depending on which type of dyeing we use, your imagination is pretty much the definition of your limitations........ Answer? Just about anything.

What if my leather has cat scratches and/or a tear?

Not a problem! We see cat scratches often and have a tried and true method to make them go away completely in most cases. If your leather has a tear we use a thin piece of leather as a patch behind the tear line, then we bring the two piece's together and then fill the crack line in with a mixture that is like bonded leather. The tear will almost be undetectable in most cases.

Do we have to dye it darker?

Nope, not is most cases, there are, of course, always exceptions to every rule but in most cases you don't have to dye your leather furniture darker.

What if we want to dye it, make it, a lighter color?

Good question. Almost always the answer is “yes” you can make your leather furniture a lighter color. Once again it depends on the style and type of dye used and the desired finish.

Just how shiny is it going to be? Do I have to have it like it was?

Although leather likes to ‘take’ dyes in certain ways to usually look ‘like it did’ regarding shine, we can and do have the ability to manipulate the sheen. We can make the new finish on your leather furniture as ‘dead flat’ as note book paper or shine like glass and anything in between. Whatever you desire.

Will it/does it rub off? (the new finish that is)

No, the new finish will not rub off. We use only the dye’s and finishes that were used when the leather was originally produced and ‘no’ they will not/do not rub off, the new finish is as hardy as the original finish.

Will it change the feel of the leather? Will the leather feel the same?

Good question. Although every situation can be a bit different the general rule is that when your leather is refinished it should feel very close if not exactly like it did when it was new.

 How long will it last?

Another good question. Since we use only the original factory dye’s and finishes the new finish will usually have close to the same life span as the original factory finish. Depending on the use of your furniture (kids, dogs, cats, etc.) the new finish will often outlast the original factory finish. At the factory the dye's are put on quickly and with a machine, we put all the dye's in with our hands and have the ability to do things a factory line machine just can't do.
